Serving the North Shore
Mahjong Lessons on Milwaukee’s North Shore
I teach American Mah Jongg (NMJL rules) right in your living room: Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Fox Point, Bayside, Glendale, and River Hills are all a short drive for me. Group lessons are $50/person for two hours, and I bring everything: tiles, racks, cards, and mats.
Why here
The North Shore is where Milwaukee mahjong lives
If Milwaukee has a mahjong heartland, this is it. The game has been passed down at North Shore tables for generations, and the JCC in Whitefish Bay has hosted open play for years. Walk in on the right afternoon and you’ll hear the tiles before you see them. It’s a wonderful community, and my lessons are the fastest way to join it.
A lot of my North Shore students come to me with the same story: their mother or grandmother played, their friends play Tuesdays, and they want to get table-ready before sitting down at a community game. Three group sessions and you’ll know the Charleston, the card, and the courage to call "mah jongg" out loud.
- · Living-room lessons for you and your neighbors
- · Sisterhood and synagogue groups warmly welcome
- · Refreshers if you played years ago and want back in
- · I’ll get you comfortable joining open play anywhere

Gather 3 or more: book club, block, or bunco group gone rogue. $50/person for two hours; three sessions and you’re running your own weekly game.
Group lessons →Private coaching
$150 for a focused two hours. Popular with North Shore players brushing up before joining a standing game. No judgment, just reps.
Private lessons →Parties & events
Birthdays, showers, sisterhood socials: $400 flat for up to 8 players. I also run corporate events for offices in Glendale and beyond.
Mahjong parties →Planning something for a team instead? See corporate events.
How it works
Three steps, zero fuss
Text or email me with who’s playing and where you are on the North Shore. We pick a time that works, evenings and weekends included. Then I show up with the whole kit and you’re playing real hands the very first session. You supply the table and the nosh.
Say hello
Start a North Shore game
Tell me your neighborhood (Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Fox Point, Bayside, Glendale, or River Hills) and who’s sitting down, and I’ll take it from there.
