American Mahjong Lessons in Wisconsin

I’m Julie Littman, a certified American Mah Jongg instructor based in Milwaukee. Southeastern Wisconsin is my regular teaching territory, and for larger events and parties elsewhere in the state, I travel. If you’re anywhere in Wisconsin and want a professional to teach your group the real NMJL game, start here.

The lay of the land

Wisconsin’s mahjong scene is growing fast

American Mah Jongg is having a genuine revival, and Wisconsin is no exception. Here’s an honest map of where things stand, and where I fit in.

Milwaukee metro: my home turf

The city, the North Shore, Wauwatosa & Brookfield, Mequon & Cedarburg, and Lake Country. This is where I teach week in, week out: homes, offices, clubs, and venues.

Racine & Kenosha

Active players and community games exist up and down the lakeshore, and it’s an easy trip south for me. Group lessons and parties here are very bookable. If your group is in Racine or Kenosha County, just ask.

Madison & beyond

Madison has its own growing circles of players and clubs. For the rest of the state, honest answer: I travel for larger events and parties, not weekly lessons. Planning a retreat, reunion, or big celebration? Inquire and we’ll see if the math works.

What you get

The real game, taught by a pro

I teach the American game: National Mah Jongg League rules, the annual card, the Charleston, jokers, calling. It’s the version your group will actually find at tables across the country. Every lesson is hands-on: you’re playing real hands in the first session, whatever your starting point.

Wherever we play, I bring all the materials: tiles, racks, NMJL cards, and mats for every table. Evenings and weekends available.

Anywhere in Wisconsin? Ask.

Tell me your town, your headcount, and the occasion. If you’re in southeastern Wisconsin, we’ll book it; if you’re farther out, I’ll give you a straight answer about travel.
